Applying to start nursery class
Children can start at a nursery class in the September after their third birthday.
Applications must be made in the September after their second birthday.
Contact the nursery or school directly for an application form and return it to them.
You may apply for more than one nursery class /school, but your child is only eligible to attend one nursery class/school.
The closing date for the receipt of nursery applications and the date on which offers are made, varies from nursery to nursery. Please contact the school directly for this information.
Where possible, places are offered in your preferred nursery class/school. However, if there are more applicants than there are places available, the places will be allocated using the local authority’s admissions criteria, available here..
Your child is entitled to receive 15 hours nursery education grant. This can be shared across two settings e.g. a nursery class and a preschool or two preschools.
